My name is Bryan Hunley, and I am the owner of Thunder House Music.  THM is a music creation and production business based in the US state of New Mexico.  Why does THM exist?  It is a vehicle that allows me to serve clients by composing and creating music that will augment their project.  I want creators to be successful!  It is so difficult to produce a quality product that will both meet your goals and affect your sphere of influence.  I know that a well-written and recorded musical score will take any project to a higher level.

 

That’s what I do.  I design music to support and enhance clients’ visions and which allow them to hit their targets. Creating a product, especially a passion project, and making it as top-shelf as possible is a struggle.  The best way to lessen the struggle and increase the end result is by working with others who “have your back” and use their expertise to provide support.  We’ll circle back to this struggle aspect later.

 

I have a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance, and a master’s degree in secondary education.  Yes, those took much work, and both mean a lot to me personally.  However, it is true that neither bring much to bear on the world of music composition and production.  But, one thing that does create some gravitas in my claim of being a composer is the fact that I have been composing and recording a LONG TIME-since the late 1980s.  Initially, I recorded using early digital synthesizers (including the Yamaha DX7 & Roland D-50) on reel to reel machines and 4-track cassette recorders.  In the ensuing years, I have composed, arranged, and recorded literally hundreds of songs and musical themes in a wide array of genres.  This plethora of music includes many different things-I have co-written two musicals, composed four part choral works, written country songs, and recorded background music for dramatic dialogue to name a few.

And, in these years as my craft evolved, I wrote much of this music for clients who needed original scores for their projects.  I discovered what they needed and then did everything possible to bring their vision to life.  Some of the examples on the “Listen” page of this website are what I have created for others.  Please note, however, that what is represented is only a small section of what I have done-and what I can do.

 

Let’s finish by talking about struggling again.  Honestly, it is an intrinsic part of life.  Beyond this, the creative struggle is very close to those who innovate and produce art in its various forms.  I have experienced it often myself.  One important example of this was when I was beginning the process of getting my vocal performance bachelor’s.  Not long into my journey I discovered that I had a serious vocal dysphonia that greatly affected my singing.  Fortunately, I had an incredible woman as my vocal coach who had just beforehand received her doctorate in the field of understanding and overcoming dysphonia.  She patiently worked with me for over three years to help me successfully conquer my issue.  This certainly is not the last nor largest struggle I've ever had as an artist, but it was an early one in my career that taught me a lot.
